VACCINATIONS.

We strongly advise all pet owners to have their pets fully immunised against as many serious and potentially fatal diseases as possible.

At Mitcham Veterinary Clinic, we fully endorse and supply only the top-of-the range “5-star” licensed vaccines, but we charge very competitive prices.

FOR DOGS, we routinely vaccinate against Canine Distemper Virus, Canine Parvovirus, once upon a time very common fatal illnesses, but which have been very successfully controlled by vaccination in the past decade. Our vaccines also cover against the fatal Canine Adenovirus disease (aka Infectious Hepatitis), and the two British strains of Leptospirosis, one of which is responsible for “Weil’s Disease”, another potentially fatal disease affecting liver and kidneys, which may be contracted by dogs from vermin, and which has been identified in local ponds and rivers. For good measure, our vaccines also give protection against the commonest strain of Parainfluenza, which, although rarely fatal in dogs, can prove unpleasant, and is expensive to treat, when encountered as one of the possible causes of Kennel Cough Syndrome.

FOR CATS, we now routinely vaccinate against Feline Viral Enteritis, a once common, fatal illness now rarely seen as a result of successful vaccination control, and also the still very common, deadly, Feline Leukaemia Virus (FeLV). Cats no longer need to die from these unpleasant diseases when vaccines can fully protect them. Our vaccines also cover cats against Feline Herpes and Feline Calicivirus, which are the two commonest agents in the still-common, very infectious “Cat Flu” syndrome, which can be sometimes fatal, and is always very unpleasant for the suffering cat, and very expensive on the pocket of the owner. Finally, our vaccines now protect your pet against the very contagious Feline Chlamydia Disease, not uncommon in our area, which causes a virtually incurable eye disease in those cats which contract it, with frequently recurring soreness and discharging eyes, usually for the entire life of the affected animal.
